Acknowledgments
To my children, Donné and Daniel, you are my life. I love you no matter what, unconditionally. I never said that to you enough while you grew up. If you had not challenged me with your reactions, I probably would have never finished this book. I know that in your hearts and souls our journey through life together is infinite. There is no end, and you will soon find that out.
To Diana, I couldn’t have written this without you. Thank you for your amazing support and encouragement. You also were affected by the loss of a brother and a mother. You stood by me and provided positive energies and enthusiasm as I shared my grief with you. You and I have traveled a journey together to find peace with ourselves. Larry is enjoying our travels together. I love you, Diana.
Thank you, Chris. You are my life partner now. We will be best friends forever. You have stood back and stayed out of my way as I have been fighting for air. You have been shouting from the shoreline, “Kick, kick, kick!” every time I felt submerged underwater. We have been thrown together spiritually, and you have brought me kicking and screaming every step of the way. I love you.
To my granddaughters, Haley, Betty, and Clara, you might read this someday and recognize a bit of me in you. I hope you understand that death and surviving are processes of life. Your grandfather, Papa, loved your parents so much. He would be proud of all of you today. Take whatever challenges that are thrown your way during your life here on earth. Recognize them as lessons because we all have them
To Paul , Karla, and Lin, you have heard my stories and complaints. You have supported me and been my cheerleaders. I’m excited that you too have shared my journey of finding ourselves. Thank you for being patient while your sister grew up. I think I’m almost there! I love you dearly.
And to all parents—a blessing. We have all learned our parenting from different styles, books, and learned behaviors from our parents. The one significant thing that I learned and would hope that all parents who read this would understand, that we really have no control over the children we raise. We can only hope for the best and learn to let go when it’s necessary.
Esther Hicks and Jerry Hicks – authors of many books on the Laws of Attraction have been a big influence on my growth and change. One significant reading came from a workshop they had in Seattle that I found such resonance with, that I would like to share it with you:
Child of mine—I will never do for you that which I know you can do for yourself. I will never rob you of an opportunity to show yourself your ability and talent. I will see you at all times as the capable, effective, powerful creator that you have come forth to be.
And I will stand back as your most avid cheering section. But I will not do for you that which you have intended to do for yourself. Anything you need from me—ask. I’m always here to compliment or to assist, I am here to encourage your role, not to justify my experience through you.
